RHIA-VO: Artificial Intelligence Hospital Challenge in the Vallès Occidental region
The RHIA-VO project (Hospital Artificial Intelligence Challenge in Vallès Occidental) is an initiative aimed at promoting the effective integration of AI solutions in the hospital environment, through a pilot in real conditions and focusing on the main healthcare challenges identified by healthcare professionals and experts. The winning project will carry out a pilot test at the Hospital Universitario MútuaTerrassa, with clinical teams involved, defined protocols and monitoring and impact metrics to evaluate results and scalability in the Catalan health and social system.
RHIA-VO aims to improve the quality of care, operational efficiency and sustainability of the healthcare system, consolidating Vallès Occidental as a hub of innovation in digital health. The program enables startups, SMEs, spin-offs and universities to test their AI solutions in a reference hospital environment, overcoming the usual barriers of access to real scenarios for demonstration projects.
The project is coordinated by the Leitat Foundation and the MútuaTerrassa Foundation for Teaching and Biomedical and Social Research, in collaboration with the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of Terrassa. Through the Digital Impulse Hub, coordinated by the Chamber of Commerce of Terrassa, RHIA-VO is nourished by the innovative and business fabric of the territory and promotes collaboration between public and private agents to promote knowledge transfer and the adoption of high-impact AI solutions.
RHIA-VO is part of the RETECH 2025 Program of Territorial Networks of Technological Specialization, within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. The initiative is supported by the Departament d’Empresa i Treball de la Generalitat de Catalunya and is co-financed by the Next Generation EU funds through the Spanish Government’s Recovery and Resilience Mechanism (MRR), aligned with the CATALONIA.AI strategy and with the objectives of digital transition, territorial cohesion and improvement of the quality of life of citizens.
